AI-native buyside origination
Map the buy box. Then pick up the phone.
Software builds the target universe and ranks every company against the mandate. People run the outreach, one owner at a time. The deal lead holds every call. There is no offshore call center, no dialer, and no appointment setter anywhere in the process.
The target universe
Every company in the buy box, ranked against it.
The search covers more than 3 million US businesses and is cut to the mandate. The universe is built from primary sources rather than a purchased list: state filings, permits, licensing boards, recent announcements, customer reviews, and hiring data. Each company is ranked against your buy box into a priority list, a watch list, and screened-out names.
Every company on the priority list is researched before a note is written. Outreach goes by email and phone, written for that owner and that business, and sent one by one. You approve how the outreach reads before anything goes out.
- Founder age
- License and ownership changes
- Lapsed renewals
- Second-generation hand-offs
- Key-person departures
- Litigation
- Recent announcements
About 12 percent of the owners contacted have replied to date, in sectors where owners often do not reply at all. That is a record of responses so far, not a rate to underwrite and not a promise of meetings.
The call
The deal lead, not a script.
Won Hwang leads every search and holds every owner conversation. He comes from investment banking and private equity, so the first call can stay on succession, valuation, and what a sale means for employees, rather than on a pitch.
On the call we represent you and the opportunity, qualify the owner, and say plainly when an owner will not engage. We set no price expectations before an official introduction.
The brief
What arrives before you meet.
Before an introduction, Cavella confirms three things and reads two more.
- Size, revenue mix, and ownership
- Initial financials
- The owner’s intent to sell
- What the owner wants
- Who else has approached them
You meet the owner and decide how to proceed. We stay involved through the letter of intent, with initial financials, owner communication, and offer framing.
A first engagement
Four weeks, then a decision.
-
Day 1
One working session. Sector, size, geography, deal type, and deal-breakers, plus the traits a screen can miss: succession dynamics, local reputation, and why a business is worth owning. Companies already in your pipeline are carved out of the fee.
-
Weeks 1 to 4
We build the target universe, send the outreach you approved, and take every owner call ourselves. A weekly pipeline review covers who was contacted, who replied, and what happens next, and your feedback shapes the next round.
-
As owners surface
Each qualified owner arrives with a written brief, then an introduction. At week 4 you decide whether to extend. By then you should know whether we can reach owners you could not.
There is no quota of introductions and no activity count to hit. The weekly update is the record. With no retainer and no monthly fee, Cavella carries the cost of the search until an acquisition we sourced actually closes.
Alignment
For you alone, and only if it closes.
| Question | Business broker | Monthly-fee sourcing firm | Cavella |
|---|---|---|---|
| Works for | The seller | You, and often buyers you compete with | You alone |
| What you see | Companies already for sale, shown to every buyer | Owners reached by mass email | Off-market companies across the whole buy box, researched and contacted one by one |
| Who calls | The broker, for the seller | A scripted calling team | The deal lead, a former investment banker and private equity investor |
| What reaches you | A memorandum written to sell the company | A booked meeting | Initial financials reviewed, a written brief, and an owner who intends to sell |
| What you pay | A price set in an auction | A monthly fee, whether or not a deal closes | A fee only if an acquisition we sourced closes. Nothing before that. |
This is Cavella’s framing of a search. It is not a survey of other firms.
Bring the buy box.
The first working session gives the search its edges. From there the weekly pipeline update is the record, and the fee waits for a closing.
